Longwood Learning on Smugmug

Your Bio

Following Longwood’s founder Pierre du Pont’s educational mission in the Garden’s charter, Longwood works to provide world-class horticultural learning at all levels—from individuals with a passing interest to those who make horticulture a central part of their lives.

A goal of the Education Department is to showcase student work in as many venues as possible. A rotating gallery space can be found in the “Studio” section of the Terrace Restaurant. A web page dedicated to Longwood students’ work in the visual and floral arts is the newest way to share. Longwood Gardens is so pleased to be able to showcase the talents of our students.

The online student gallery offers three galleries to showcase different forms of artwork created by the students in Continuing Education classes; Photography; Floral Designs; and Drawing and Painting. Photography offers a collection of digital images taken by various students in the many photography classes offered. Floral Designs exhibits arrangements from a variety of courses in floral designs, from individual workshops to Certificate of Merit classes. Drawing and Painting houses collections of artwork created in Botanical Art Illustration, Watercolors, and other forms of media. All of these classes are offered to wide range students with different skill levels and interests.
